The Center’s research, education and consultation around the psychological effects and health consequences of disaster exposure benefits professionals engaged in trauma and disaster, as well as affected populations. The military community is an important focus of the Center that examines the mental health impact of deployment, deployment stress and injury on military health care providers, service members and families. The Center develops educational resources on traumatic stress for military healthcare providers and families. The Center also studies the impact of natural disasters, terrorism and bioterrorism on civilian populations.  Our work is designed to educate leadership in government, industry, healthcare and academia who develop disaster planning and interventions to mitigate the impact of disasters on individuals, communities, organizations and the nation.
