The Center
Public Information
Drawing upon its expertise in military psychiatry and disaster psychiatry, the Center develops and disseminates a wide range of educational materials for a broad audience. These public information resources include a communication campaign, Courage to Care, that brings important and timely health issues to attention of military healthcare providers, service members and their families. An initiative, Courage to Care for Me, provided a onesie to welcome newborns into the military community and to reinforce positive parenting during the stress of war and deployment. The Center’s Family Violence and Trauma Project distributes a quarterly newsletter, Joining Forces Joining Families, which promotes research on child neglect and family violence to benefit the Army’s Family Advocacy personnel and Army community. The Center’s books and CDs address world trauma and represent collaboration with leading trauma experts. In addition, Center scientists create informational fact sheets on a variety of topics related to preparedness, response and recovery from exposure to natural and human made disasters including terrorism, bioterrorism, war and epidemics to enhance Our Nation’s Resilience.
